Gafta is the international trade association representing the agricultural commodity trade with over 2000 member companies in 100 countries. Gafta is headquartered in London and has offices in Kiev, Beijing and Singapore. It is estimated that around 80% of all grain traded internationally is shipped on Gafta standard forms of contract. Gafta’s arbitration service, based on English law, is highly respected around the world.

With its origins dating back to 1878, Gafta’s mission is to advocate for free, open and predictable trade of agricultural commodities globally to avoid trade disruption. We represent members views to policy makers promoting international standards based on sound science taking a risk-based approach to regulatory decision-making on food and feed safety ensuing a supply of safe, sustainable and nutritious food and feed materials globally.

Gafta also runs training and education courses, manages Approved Registers for technical trade services and provides trade policy information, and events and networking opportunities for members.
